On Monday 27 November, Clarence House announced the engagement of Prince Harry to American actress, Meghan Markle, with a wedding set to take place on the 19th May 2018. Prince Harry revealed he proposed during a ‘standard, typical night’ at his home in Kensington Palace. The ring was designed by Prince Harry and features two diamonds which belonged to his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.The band is made from yellow gold and at the centre is a diamond from Botswana, where the couple went camping at the start of their relationship. The couple's 16-month relationship began in July 2016 when they met through mutual friends in London. Their married home will be the prince's current residence, Nottingham Cottage, in the grounds of Kensington Palace. Ms Markle, the 36 year-old tv star, has confirmed she will be giving up acting and with her new role focus even more energy on the causes that are important to her. She is already involved with humanitarian work and is a women's advocate with the UN.
