The Royal Navy’s HMS Andromeda, was a Leander-class Frigate built at HM Dockyard Portsmouth; the last ship to be built there. Launched on 24 May 1967 and commissioned on 2 December 1968, the ship served with the Royal Navy up until it was decommissioned in June 1993. Service included duties in the Beira Patrol, the Second Cod War and the Falklands War. After decommission by the Royal Navy, Andromeda was sold to India in 1995, with the ships service finally coming to an end on 24 May 2012.
