‘Annie’ is a musical based on a Harold Gray comic strip, Little Orphan Annie. The original Broadway production of ‘Annie’ opened on 21 April 1977 at the Alvin Theatre and ran for almost six years. The story concentrates on an eleven year old girl living in an orphanage who decides to escape to find her parents and her adventure then begins. The musical produced many songs that went on to be well known, with the most famous, Tomorrow and It’s the Hard Knock Life. The original Broadway cast included Andrea McArdle as Annie and Reid Shelton as Daddy Warbucks. ‘Annie’ the musical has toured the world with most recently a 2012 Broadway revival and a West End revival scheduled for June 2017.
