Billy Bunter, is a fictional character created by writer Charles Hamilton - pen name Frank Richards.The stories of Billy Bunter of Greyfriars School, originally appeared in the boy’s paper The Magnet, in 1908. His character was brought to the TV screen in February 1952 by the BBC. Bunter is in the lower fourth form at Greyfriars and was played by Gerald Champion. A total of 52 episodes were broadcast, between 1952 and 1961, including three television specials. The programmes theme tune was the ‘Portsmouth’ section of ‘Sea Songs’ by Ralph Vaughan Williams.
