The Beatles Penny Lane 50th Anniversary Thimble - Sign

£7.95
Released on 17 February 1967, ‘Penny Lane’ is a song by the Beatles, written by Sir Paul McCartney. The single was released as a double A-side along with ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’. Penny Lane was a place that McCartney and John Lennon would meet to catch a bus into the city. Today the street is an important landmark visited by many fans on the Beatles tour. Street signs saying ‘Penny Lane’ were often stolen and city officials eventually gave up replacing them and painted the street name on the sides of buildings instead. In 2007 new more theft-resistant ‘Penny Lane’ street signs were installed, although some are still stolen.
