Peter Vaughan, born Peter Ewart Ohm, was an English actor known for his many supporting roles in British television and film and also working on the stage. Vaughan became known for his roles in British sitcoms such as Porridge and Citizen Smith. He appeared in many films over the years including, The Naked Runner starring alongside Frank Sinatra, The French Lieutenants Wife with Meryl Streep and his highest-profile role in The Remains of the Day with Anthony Hopkins. More recently Vaughan appeared in the film Death at a Funeral in 2011 and his last role was Maestor Aemon in Game of Thrones, from 2011 to 2015. Vaughan sadly passed away on 6 December 2016, age 93.
