Leonard Rossiter was one of Britain’s most popular comic actors and star of theatre. In the early 1960’s Rossiter broke into film roles with Billy Liar, playing the title character's boss. He established himself as a respected actor in films & stage whilst also making his presence felt on TV. In 1974 he joined the cast of ITV’s Rising Damp, playing ‘Rigsby’, the lecherous landlord of a house converted into seedy bedsits. Whilst in Rising Damp he also took the lead role in The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, adapted by David Nobbs from his own comic novels and aired on the BBC.
