Herbert George Wells was an English writer born in Bromley, Kent on 21 Sept 1866. Best known for his science fiction novels, Wells has been named the father of science fiction, penning such works as The Time Machine, The Invisible Man and The War of the Worlds.Wells was also known to express himself through sketches and drawings and these were often found on the title pages and endpapers of his own diaries. As a Diabetic, in 1934 Wells co-founded the charity The Diabetic Association, known today as Diabetes UK. Wells passed away at his Regents Park home in London on 13 August 1946.
