The 2016 Trooping of the Colour marked Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Official 90th Birthday. The Queen took her traditional journey in a horse-drawn carriage down the Mall to the ceremony at Horse Guards Parade. Dressed in a vivid lime green outfit she watched the parade of more than 1,600 soldiers and 600 horses before joining her family on the Balcony of Buckingham palace to watch a spectacular RAF flypast. The weekend’s celebrations continued on Sunday with a picnic lunch, the last of the events for the Queen’s special birthday. Attended by 10,000 guests who were gathered along the Mall, the picnic gave the Queen a chance to thank everyone for the birthday wishes received during the year.
