Sylvia Anderson was best known for voicing Lady Penelope from the television programme Thunderbirds. As well as being the voice of the popular character, Anderson co-created the hit science-fiction series with her late husband Gerry. Born in South London to a boxing promoter and a dressmaker her career spanned five decades. In 1963 the Anderson’s came up with the idea for Thunderbirds, revolving the story around a futuristic emergency service called International Rescue. She sadly died at her Berkshire home after a short illness, aged 88.
