Abraham Basalinsky, known as ‘Alfie Bass’, born in Bethnal Green, London on 10 April 1916 was an English actor. Bass made his first appearances in film in wartime documentaries going on to feature films. His career spanned from 1943 to 1982 with television and radio playing a major role. He appeared in many popular British television programmes including The Army Game, Till Death Us Do Part, Minder and Are You Being Served?. Bass died of a heart attack on 15 July 1987 at the age of 71.
