The Queen and other royals joined celebrations to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta at Runnymede on the banks of the Thames where the historic document was sealed on 15 June 1215, eight centuries after her predecessor King John was forced ‘at the point of the sword’ to agree to Magna Carta. A 4m high bronze sculpture of the Queen in full Garter Robes was unveiled at Runneymede Pleasure Grounds coinciding with the second day of the Thames River Pageant.
