Rodney Stephen Hull, better known as Rod Hull, was a comedian. He was best known as a popular entertainer on British television in the 1970s and 1980s, rarely appearing without his sidekick Emu, a mute, highly aggressive arm-length puppet. Hull first used Emu in a children’s breakfast TV programme called The Super Flying Fun Show. The bird subsequently became a regular part of Hull's set on cabarets back in the United Kingdom and Australia. It was his appearance in the 1972 Royal Variety Performance that provided his springboard to national recognition. Sadly Hull passed away following an accident at his home in 1999.
