Until further notice the Thimble Guild Museum in Biggar is closed - sorry for any inconvenience caused. We are in the process of re-housing our collection to its new home at our head office in Brampton, Cumbria. Watch this space for more news regarding the opening event...

In the meantime we thought we would showcase some of our Museum pieces here online……

Silver Hallmarked Stone - Special Edition
This unrepeatable limited edition is made from Sterling Silver set with semi-precious stones from all over the World. It also served as a record of the last eight years of British Hallmarking as we knew it. Since 1999 we have had to comply with EEC regulations which make many of the marks redundant. We offered four pieces representing a particular year in the Hallmarking. The Letter T inscribed represents 1993 for all Assay offices. A Mexican crazy lace agate tops the thimble representing the Sheffield office, while a red banded agate from Brazil is set into the thimble donating London. You will find a banded agate from Brazil with the Edinburgh Castle symbol and a Black mother of pearl from the Philippines with the Birmingham anchor symbol. These Thimbles were crafted to the highest standards and strictly limited to 100 sets worldwide.
June 2000 £125

Antique Sewing set
Only 57 sets of these lovely double sewing sets were sold by The Thimble Guild in April 1988 for £24.75 a set. They are in their original red divided boxes and date back about 70 years. The gold coloured set is a mixture of brass and tombak. The silver coloured one is nickel plated brass. When you unscrew the containers you find a Thimble, a cotton holder, pins and a safety pin. The sets are finished off with a coloured tassle.
